Bishnupur, August 17 2022:
JAC Against the Unnatural Death of Th Ibohanbi Singh Rifleman 5th MR, Khangjaron, Tamenglong District has called off the Tiddim road bandh at Oinam area and claimed body of the deceased for performing last rites after an agreement was reached with the state government.
Addressing a press meet at Oinam Makha Leikai on Wednesday, JAC convener Ch Anoubi commended chief minister N Biren for assuring to honour the demands of the JAC including investigation to find out the truth behind the death of Th Ibohanbi, provide suitable government job to the immediate family members of the deceased and taking up action against 5th MR officials involved in the incident.
The JAC had to resort to calling Tiddim road bandh from August 15 midnight despite CM N Biren's appeal on social media not to call bandh, as there had been no response from the CM's side even after submitting a memorandum in this regard.
However, on Tuesday Oinam MLA I Nalini Devi arranged a meeting between the JAC and the chief minister during which N Biren assured of fulfilling the demands of the JAC.
Hence, it was decided to call off the bandh and to accept the body of Th Ibohanbi for performing his last rites, Anoubi said.
Ch Anoubi also hailed minister Govindas Konthoujam for his assurance to press the chief minister for giving suitable government job to the next of kin of the deceased.
