Research and training centre inaugurated

Works minister Govindas Konthoujam on Tuesday inaugurated the newly launched classes of Vishnu Art & Culture Research and Training Centre which was founded in 2018 .
Addressing the gathering as chief guest of the function held at Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen, minister Govindas stated that part from Manipur known the world over for its art, culture and sports, existence of the Vishnu Mandir at Bishnupur during the reign of (king) Ningthou Kiyamba in the 15th century has been recognised by UNESCO as a heritage monument.
He also expressed hope that the Centre will guide and inspire the future generation to preserve the state's art & culture and identity.
The programme was also attended by Manipur University of Culture (MUC) vice chancellor Prof P Gunindro Singh as president Centre's president Prof Th Yaima Singh, former minister Kh Pulinkanta Singh, Bishnupur deputy commissioner L Bikram Singh, MUC registrar L Radhakanta Singh, MUC College Development Council director Dr L Surjit Singh and Bishnupur SDPO Manoj Kumar Prabhakar were present as guests of honour.
Delivering the keynote address, Vishnu Art & Culture Research and Training Centre secretary M Bilkee Singh said that the Centre has been affiliated to MUC through the effort and financial assistance of minister Govindas.
Moreover, assistance from various individuals and organisations has helped construction of the office building of the Centre which will impart courses in BA Dance and Music and Diploma in Nata Sankirtan.
As part of the event, a cultural performance on 'Maibi Jagoi', 'Pung Kortal Cholom', Moirang Shai and 'Dhon Dholop Cholom' was showcased.
