Security forces organise mega tree plantation drive

A mass plantation drive was carried out inside the campus of STC BSF, Chur.achandpur on July 25.It was inaugurated by Raja Babu Singh, IPS, Inspector General.
A total of 1000 tree saplings including fruit bearing trees were planted during the drive.
It may be mentioned that a total of 7,000 tree saplings have been planted during the current year inside the campus of STC BSF, CCpur.
IMPHAL
Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised an afforestation drive as part of the pan Assam Rifles afforestation drive at Mantripukhri Garrison, Imphal on July 25 .
Major General Alok Naresh, Inspector General, planted a sapling at the Environmental Park in Mantripukhri Garrison to mark the launch of the afforestation drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Alok Naresh stated that the Assam Rifles is organising several awareness programmes on environmental protection as well as tree plantation drives across States in the North East region.
The tree plantation drive saw active participation of troops and their families including children.
NONEY
Noney Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) also organised a mega tree plantation drive today with the aim to preserve the forest and promote awareness about forest conservation.
The plantation drive was held at Noney, Kotlien, Tupul, Haochong, Awangkhul, Khongsang and Nungba to promote the 'Clean Earth, Green Earth' initiative amongst the troops.
During the drive, a total of 5,150 saplings were planted in and around Battalion Headquarters, Company Operating Bases and along National Highway 37 .
The mass plantation in the area would supplement greenery and negate the ill effects of deforestation.
SENAPATI
Similarly, as a gesture of social responsibility towards nature, troops of Assam Rifle planted 3,000 tree saplings and kick started SOHRA afforestation drive today on the theme Of "A tree for the future" .
Maram Battalion under the aegis of Jwalamukhi sector/ IGAR (E) launched the campaign by planting trees in its garrison, COBs and nearby villages.
As part of the campaign, the Battalion would create awareness on afforestation and plant trees in a phased manner.
All the central institutes in the area like schools, PHCs and nearby villages of each COBs were contacted and suggested to plant trees.
The youth of the area were also urged to create awareness about afforestation in the area.
The Commandant highlighted the importance of nature and emphasised that nature should not be taken for granted and must be respected for its values.
TAMENGLONG
44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector/IGAR(E) organized a plantation drive at Tamenglong town and various other parts of the district.
The unit kickstarted the drive by planting a sapling at Azuiram village.
Jawans of the unit planted about 5200 saplings during the drive.
TENGNOUPAL
Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles in association with Tengnoupal Forest Division also carried out a mass tree plantation drive at Key Location Point ( KLP) Govajang village, Jehovah Jireh Children Home and Adullam Rehab Center today.
Placards with the slogan, 'Trees are -our wealth on planet Earth', 'Tree plantations is the best option', 'Plant a hope for future', etc were displayed during the drive.
UKHRUL
Somsai and Shangshak Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a mega tree plantation drive at remote villages of Ukhrul and Kamjong District on July 24 .
The drive Was organised to promote the 'Go Green Initiative' and spread awareness about climate change and global warming amongst the troops, said a statement of IGAR(S).
As part of the initiative, troops and locals of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts along with DFO, Ukhrul Forest division planted saplings of various types.
The locals and troops were also educated about the importance of trees in maintaining the ecological equilibrium.
