Imphal, July 04 2022: Chief minister N Biren on Monday chaired a meeting with health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan and officials of the health department to discuss the rising cases of Covid-19 and directed the department to take up necessary preventive measures to ensure that the situation does not go out of hand.

Informing this after the meeting held at the CM's secretariat here, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan told The People's Chronicle that the Covid-19 situation is worsening in the last few days with Sunday reporting 16 new cases, which is the highest in the past couple of months.

The meeting discussed the emerging situation and measures required to be taken up, he revealed.

JNIMS and RIMS authorities have been asked to increase Covid bed capacity.

The department officials have also been advised to make preparation for setting up Covid Care Centre at RD Wing, which could be activated at any time.

The meeting also appealed to the public to follow relevant SOPs and Covid appropriate behaviour, he added.
