Raitu Chawang creating confusion: ZUF
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, July 04 2022: Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) chairman Jenchui Kamei has said that the mutual declaration to re unify two groups of ZUF was made with leadership principle and in the larger interest of Zeliangrong and its kindred tribes.

However, the merger group leader Raitu Chawang abrogated the declaration on June 9, 2022 with twisted allegations and baseless accusations with the ulterior motive to confuse and disappoint the people.

According to a ZUF statement issued by its chairman Jenchui Kamei, the Raitu Chawang group made a self-declaration on October 26, 2019 to cease the existence of the outfit but used ZUF nomenclature under the protected-cover of NSCN-U.Prior to this declaration was a bitter history of betrayal and division caused by the same group in the style of reconciliation and reshuffle of ZUF leadership.

Thus, Raitu Chawang became chairman of ZUF with sinister design to blindfold and misled the Front motivated by some few leaders behind.

The same spirit was displayed again thereby incurring much damage and loss to the Front by the group.

However, ZUF withstood the pain, restored and sustained the Zeliangrong political movement to its present status.

Nevertheless, with much patience and humanitarian consideration and conceding to the pleading and persuasion of Zeliangrong leaders and intellectuals to forgive and re-unite in the common interest of the people, the Front reconsidered to accommodate the merger group despite their grievous attempts of fatally finishing off the only Zeliangrong political Front.

Accordingly, a mutual declaration to re-unify was made in the larger interest of the Zeliangrong people.

However, it was again abrogated on June 9, 2022 by Raitu Chawang group with twisted allegations and bare excuses only to further confuse and disappoint the people.

The statement further said that the abrogation of the mutual declaration reflects immaturity and has disproved Raitu Chawang's leadership and hence any attempt to reignite the bitter facets of the past by trying to re-unite without denouncing the corrupt motivated interest will not hold any importance or accountability.

It also advised Raitu Chawang to refrain from doubling his role on the issues of Zeliangrong and the Nagas.

ZUF shall no longer tolerate any act of betrayal or treachery designed to hinder the cause and progress of the people, it added.

The outfit also appealed to all right thinking citizens and leaders to understand and spell out the truth without any discriminatory favour or fear.
