Meeting dissects woes of Mid-Day Meal workers

An executive committee meeting of All Manipur Mid-Day Meal Workers' Union convened on Sunday resolved to pressurise the government for covering entire Mid-Day workers of the state under PMSYM scheme.
The executive committee meeting co-chaired by vice presidents Kadushinlu Kamson and S Sanajaobi also discussed problems being faced by Mid-Day Meal workers and their requisite entitlements.
All India Trade Union, Manipur state secretary Ksh Shanta, who also attended the meet, talked in detail about Government of India's efforts to provide pension to workers in un-organised sector after retirement as also about Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man-Dhan (PMSYM) scheme.
Imphal West and Tamenglong districts figured among 75 districts of the country targeted to implement the scheme in the first phase, he said and urged the government to initiate special measure to include all Mid-Day Meal workers of the state under the scheme.
After a threadbare discussion, the meet resolved to pressurise the state government for inclusion of entire Mid-Day Meal workers of the state under PMSYM scheme and initiate steps to provide pension to all Mid-Day Meal workers.
