MU Asst Prof selected for intensive research in Florida

Manipur University Department of Biotechnology assistant professor (S3) Dr Potshangbam Nongdam Puren has bagged the prestigious SIRE Award (2022-23) sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India.
Dr Puren will undertake intensive research in ornamental plant propagation using advanced TIB bioreactor systems under the mentorship of University of Florida (USA) Department of Environmental Horticulture assistant chair Prof Wanger A Vendrame for a period of 5 months.
The SIRE programme aims to impart high-end research training in frontier areas of Science and Technology that are of interest to India by providing an opportunity to visit leading institutes/universities around the world.
He is among the 50 fellows selected from across India.
Dr Puren, an active researcher in the held of plant biotechnology has published more that 65 research papers and book chapters in many SCI-indexed high-impact factored international journals and in reputed publishers like Springer, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, etc.
So far, his publications have attracted around 700 citations with h-index of 14 and i-10 score of 22.He has also successfully completed several major research projects funded by UGC, SERB, DST, etc., as principal investigator and co-principal investigator, said a release.
