Foundation day celebrated

State Platform of Disabled People's Organisation (SPDPO), Manipur observed its fourth foundation day at Manipur Press Club, today.
SPDPO was established on April 24, 2011 by different organisations of differently abled persons of the State.
SPDPO aims at strengthening the differently abled persons by co-operating with each other and working together for their welfare.
Deputy Speaker of Manipur Assembly MK Preshow Shimray and SPDPO President Dr Sapam Jasowanta graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.
State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities L Nabakishor, Assistant Commissioner Chunglenmang Kipgen, Senior Advocate Daniel Ransan, All Manipur NGO Forum general secretary Kh Chinglen, Editor of 'Naharolgi Thoudang' Khoirom Loyalakpa also attended the function as guests of honour.
Dutch citizens, who work for the cause of differently abled persons, William de Vries and Els Veekens were the special guests of the function.
Preshow Shimray while speaking at the function said that every organisation has its aims and objectives.
And it is important to transparently highlight the objectives, activities, achievements and progress of the organisations to public, he said and added that only then people would understand their success.
He further stated that the State Government equally takes care of differently abled persons like the rest of the people, and the best example for this is the setting up of a separate commission for them.
Although no significant achievement is there yet as the Commission is only around one-year-old, people would get to see various achievements in the near future, he added.
