337 seek BJP ticket, 215 for Congress

Different major political parties have sped up efforts to win majority in the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections which will be held on June 1 .
Intending candidates had submitted their applications to both Congress and BJP, said a source and added that 215 persons have applied for Congress tickets while 337 for BJP.
For Congress party, the last date of submission of application was fixed on April 16 .
The election notification is likely to be issued in the next few days, and the exact number of candidates would be known after scrutiny.
MPCC general secretary S Jiten told this news agency that the meeting of ticket committee was held under closed-doors.
On the other hand, the last date for submission of candidate forms for BJP was April 22 .
The ticket committee meeting for the party would be held soon and confirmation of candidates would be known after the formal notification of the Government on April 30, said a source.
Meanwhile, Naga People's Front (NPF) has received around 200 applications seeking party ticket for the upcoming ADC elections.
However, a source said that the party would field only 93-94 candidates against the total 140 seats.
