State shines in Global Exhibition on Services

Manipur was among a few States of the country which took part in the three-day event of Global Exhibition on Services which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday at Pragati Maidan.
The main objective of the Global Exhibition on Services was to create a global platform for increased trade in services.
It served as a platform for extensive business networking, joint ventures, exchange of ideas, brand visibility and exploration of newer revenue models.
Sixty countries including Pakistan, Australia, US, Russia and Germany participated at the first ever Global Exhibition on Services.
The nine sectors projected in the exhibition included IT & telecom, tourism, media and entertainment, healthcare, logistics, professional services including project exports and banking & financial services, education, research & development, space and the small & medium enterprises engaged in services.
Manipur opened its stalls in six sectors namely small and medium enterprises, information technology, tourism, media and entertainment, education and healthcare.
In the Small and Medium Enterprises stall, the display of different garments of Manipur Creations owned by Vasunraz Koijam of Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal had a special attraction for its quality production at low cost.
Commerce and Industry Department projected the future scopes of commerce and industry in Manipur.
In the Information Technology stall, Information Technology Department displayed the blue print model of the IT industry in Manipur.
In the Tourism stall, apart from the Tourism Department, tourism enterprises like Classic Group of Hotels, KB Enterprises, Khuibo Tours and Travels and Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association displayed their products.
In the Media and Entertainment Stall, products of ISTV network were displayed.
Education stall highlighted the activities of the Department of School Education and Department of Higher Education.
In the Healthcare stall, apart from the healthcare services taken up by the Department of Health Services, the services rendered by private enterprises like Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, Langol and Sky Hospital and Research Centre, RIMS Road Imphal were highlighted.
Manipur Commerce and Industry Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga participated at the inaugural function of the Global Exhibition on Services on Thursday.
After the inaugural function, they visited the Manipur stall.
While talking to the media at Manipur stall, Govindas Konthoujam said that the Global Exhibition on Services would provide a good opportunity to the people of Manipur particularly youth to extend their enterprising ventures beyond India.
He expressed that Manipuris were good in speaking English which could help them become good entrepreneurs not only in India, but also abroad.
Highlighting the prospects of economic development in Manipur in the near future with the coming of Asian Highways in 2/3 years, he appealed to the youth to dream, to act and to realize it.
"We need to work hard to achieve economic freedom of Manipur", he remarked.
Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga expressed his happiness over the Global Exhibition on Services for providing the platform for showcasing the potentials of Manipur in many sectors.
He said that it was the beginning and hoped for the best sign in the future.
