CM reviews development works, meets public leaders

Chief Minister N Biren Singh reviewed progress and status of various developmental projects and works taken up by different departments in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts in a joint review meeting held at DRDA Hall, Ukhrul district headquarters today.
During the meeting, N Biren expressed dissatisfaction over lack of progress in road development works in Ukhrul district.
He also expressed serious concern over the shortage of drinking water in the district.
He then suggested both Public Health Engineering Department and local people to make use of effective rain water harvesting techniques so as to store more water for use during lean season.
HoDs of different departments like PHED, Medical, IT, BRTF, MOBC and PMGSY etc briefed the Chief Minister by making powerpoint presentations during the meeting.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that a similar review meeting was held during his last visit to the district.
He said that today's meeting was conducted to review the progress of works presented/ mentioned in the last meeting.
Stating that a people's Government needs to go together with the public, the Chief Minister said that they should be made known what the Government is doing.
The Chief Minister observed that delegation of power to the ADCs is very much needed and added that the Government is trying its best to improve and empower ADCs in the State.
He said that a Cabinet decision would be taken in future regarding hike in honorarium of ADC Members and shortage of manpower etc.
He also said that although various water supply schemes with a total cost of Rs 2600 crore had been approved by the Centre, a newly revised DPR amounting to Rs 3200 crore had been prepared and submitted to the New Development Bank to ensure tap water to all the households of the State by 2022 .
The Chief Minister also met ADC Members, Organising Committee members of Shirui Lily Festival, community leaders, CSO representatives, village authorities and prominent personalities of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts in the same hall.
CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam, Education Minister Th Radheshyam, Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister N Kayisii, Manipur State Planning Board Deputy Chairman S Rajen, MLAs Ksh Biren, Alfred K Arthur, Khasim Vashum, MIDA Chairman O Lukhoi, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, DGP LM Khaute, top civil and police officials were also present at the meeting.
