Anti-malaria month observance underway at Beihang

The month-long anti-malaria observance which was set into motion on June 1 reached Behiang Primary Health Centre, located near the Indo-Burma border in Churachandpur district.
The month long anti-malaria observance is being held under the National Health Mission and National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Jameson Hangshing, SDO, Singhat inaugurated the Anti-Malaria Month 2019 at Behiang as the chief guest.
Jubilee Moi, Chief of Behiang and Dr Thangpa Serto, State Malaria Officer, NVBDCP, Manipur also attended the function as the guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Stating that there is no vaccine for malaria, Jameson urged people to be vigilant of any malaria suspected cases for early diagnosis and complete treatment.
He also urged the public to support the medical staff in their fight against malaria.
Serious concern was also raised about the easy spread of malaria in areas bordering Myanmar including Behiang village.
Extra-care should be taken to eliminate the risk of getting infected with malaria by cleaning the surroundings, disseminating the importance of its prevention.
All must work together to eliminate malaria by 2021, said officials.
Students, village elders, chiefs and general public took out a rally as a part of awareness campaign under the theme 'Zero Malaria starts with me.' Dr Steve Tungnung, MO, Behiang PHC also spoke on the theme.
The MO also thanked the authorities concerned including the local MLA for their support towards the cause of eliminating malaria in the area.
Dr Phirthanglien Buhril, DNO, NVBDCP, Ccpur also spoke on the occasion.
