Two accused in arms missing case released

Special NIA Court, passed an order to release two of the accused individuals named in the arms missing case of 2nd Manipur Rifles arms kote, Laishram Damudor and Mathurabashimayum Hiranjoy Sharma, after they executed a PR bond of Rs 1 lakh each along with surety.
The Court also directed the Director of State Health Services to constitute a State Medical Board to inquire into the medical condition of another accused Paonam Shantikumar.
The order was announced in an open Court after it was kept reserved on May 27 following the hearing of the bail application filed by the two accused.
During the hearing, the Court heard the submission of Special PP, NIA and defense counsels at length and after going through the charges as well as their confessional statements, the Court ruled that there are no evidences/ materials against them at present to restrict them from being released on bail.
As such, the Court released the two individuals after they executed a PR bond of Rs 1 lakh each along with surety.
On the other hand, the Court directed the Director of Health Services Manipur to constitute a State Medical Board to inquire the medical condition of one of the accused, Paonam Shantikumar, who had also filed a bail application before the Court on health ground.
During the proceeding, the Court direction heard both sides and went through the health status report of the accused submitted by the Superintendent, Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, wherein the Medical Officer reported that the accused is taking medication for psychiatric illness and that he was diagnosed to be suffering from Duodenal Polyp.
The Court also went through the medical documents accompanying the report.
After going through all the materials, the Court directed the report of the Medical Board to be submitted before the Court on or before June 17 and also directed the SP Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa to produce the accused before the Court on June 17 for the bail hearing.
