Imphal, June 05 2019:
Session Court Imphal West fixed June 18 for consideration of the charge levelled against Khulem Jiten and Chesam Abdul Salam, in connection with the death of Khulem Tomba on July 27 last year.
Khulem Jiten s/o (L) Kendrajit of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai (presently staying at Top Khongnangkhong) is presently lodged in jail in connection with the case and it may be mentioned that he is also serving a life sentence after he was convicted by the Court on September 18 last year, in connection with another murder case of one of his uncles, Krishnamohan, and attempting to murder another, Khulem Priyobarta, in the evening of June 30, 2015 .
During the hearing today, co-accused Chesam Abdul Salam (30) s/o Chesam Iparel of Joroitolla Cachar (presently on bail in connection with the case) also appeared before the Court with his counsel.
The Court went through the charge sheet put up by the CJM Imphal West and found sufficient evidence for taking cognizance against the accused individuals and registered a session trial case.
During the proceeding, Khulem Jiten informed that relevant papers of the charge sheet are with him and he had also engaged a lawyer for his defense in the trial.
It may be mentioned that Khulem Jiten had allegedly murdered his own uncle, Tomba, on July 27 last year while he was out on bail in connection with a previous case of murdering his uncle Khulem Krishnamohan and injuring Khulem Priyobarta.
