Under Operation New Kangleipak, the proscribed KYKL has pulled up the former Principal of Mayang Langjing Higher Secondary School and a former Cashier of the same school on charges of siphoning off Rs 1,96,626 from the school fund.
As penalty the two have been asked to pay up the amount in full.
The former Principal is identified as Gurumayum Shyamsundar (63) of Uri-pok.
He retired from service in February this year.
The Cashier of the school is identified as Thokchom Damu (55) of Lamshang Bazar.
He is still in service but is no longer the Cashier.
Producing the two before media persons today, a spokesman of ONK said that the outfit came to know that the said amount has been siphoned off during the course of an investigation taken up under ONK.
A sum of Rs 1,96,626 was released for the school in 2001-2002, said the spokesman and added that this amount was utilised.
However the outfit came across a number of discrepancies in the uitilisation of Rs 1,42,560 released in 2003.Detailing the discrepancies, the spokesman said the two in colloboration used unauthorised cash book, did the auditing work by the Cashier at home without the permission of the school authority, pegging the cost of publishing the school magazine at Rs 35,000 while the actual cost was only Rs 17 thousand, putting the cost of a progress report card at Rs 2 instead of the actual Re 1, quoting the cost of one badge at Rs 7 instead of the correct Rs 2, putting the cost of identity card at Rs 7 instead of the correct Rs 3, putting the cost of school repairing at Rs 12,240 while in truth only two doors were put up along with some wooden planks and utilising only Rs 47,229 correctly out of the Rs 1,37,060 released in 2004.The total amount siphoned off by the two is Rs 1,96,626, said the spokesman and added that they have been ordered to pay back the amount within January 20 next year.
Damu has also been asked to discontinue service henceforth.
