The 4th Manipur Integrity and solidarity Day was observed at Saikul community hall today where speakers from diverse fields deliberated on the current problems besetting the people as well as on importance to maintain cordial relationship to propel Manipur towards peace and prosperity.
The function was held under the joint aegis of Kuki Students� Organization, Saikul branch, Women�s Union, Saikul, Apunba Manipur kanba Lup (Amkil) and national identity Protection Committee (Nipco).
Besides the Saikul public and large number of student community of the area the programme was also attended by representatives of United Muslim Organization, united Committee Manipur, All Manipur Social Reformation and Development Samaj, All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup, All Manipur Students� union and a number of social activists.
The speakers mooted that without emotional integrity and respect for one another the cherished goal of peace and cordiality among various communities will not be achieved.
It is also equally important that maximum attention is given on maintaining frequent contact and improving socio-economic condition of the people cutting across religious or geographical barriers to realize the goal of emotional integration, they expressed.
Taking serious note of the chaotic social situation arising out of frequent agitations, the speakers/resource persons desired that student community be shielded from disruptive activities so as to let them pursue their academic career.
Referring to the ongoing demand for the complete removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur several speakers highlighted on the indispensability of unity amongst various community to safeguard the basic human rights of the people of Manipur.
The gathering also observed a two minute silence to mourn demise of agitators who sacrificed their lives in the agitation as well as to express solidarity with the injured besides pledging to participate in future public movement.
