Taking a serious view of the abduction of two non local men from NH-39 on the Imphal-Moreh route a few days back, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the State Government to get its act together and try to rescue them.
Not only, this the Centre has also taken a serious view of the rampant abduction of civilians for ransom.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that the Home Ministry has asked the State Government to do its best and rescue the two hostages.
The two non local men, both chartered accountants, stayed at the Hotel Anand Continental till Sept 21 and left for Moreh the next day, said the source.
They were abducted by well armed persons while returning to Imphal on September 23 near Bongyang village under Tengnoupal Police Station.
The source informed that the abductors later demanded a ransom money of Rs 1 crore for their release.
Delhi police then sent a crash message to the State police to launch a rescue operation, added the source.
The Tengnoupal Police have registered a case in connection with the abduction, said the source and added that the State Police Headquarters has directed the Tengnoupal police to start preparing for a rescue operation.
The two abducted non local men have been simply identified as Prabin Kumar and Suman.
