As part of his touring programme to the hill areas of Manipur Governor Dr SS Sidhu to visited Chandel District Headquarters Moreh town today.
During his visit, the Governor met many public leaders, representatives of NGOs as well as general public to acquaint with the grievances and problems of the people.
As the helicopter carrying the Governor landed at Maha Union High School ground in Chandel district headquarters, Deputy Commissioner of the District along with top Army officials and district level officers accorded warm welcome to the august visitor on his maiden visit.
The Governor gave audience to the people at Mini Secretariat, Chandel district headquarters.
After listening to their complaints and grievances, he assured the people of taking up necessary measures to redress them.
Later, the Governor also met district level officers and asked them not to leave their place of duty, attend office regularly and try to solve the problems of the people expeditiously.
At Moreh, the Governor was given a warm reception by the people.
Governor met the representatives of Meetei Council, Moreh; Hills Tribals Council and Kha-Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup.
He gave a patient hearing to the problems being faced by the people of the border town, the trading community and the students.
Some of the problems which the people of Moreh are experiencing and to which the attention of the Governor has been drawn are irregular supply of power, lack of piped water supply, bad road communication and lack of medical facilities in the hospital.
After hearing the grievances of the people, the Governor said that Moreh is a cosmopolitan town on the border and it is unique by itself.
So the town should be developed and show cased for Manipur and NE region.
