Imphal, September 26 2009:
The JAC for 2006 Autonomous District Council Teachers Appointed Parents and Guardians has decided to impose indefinite economic blockade on both the national highways with effect from September 29 midnight.
Speaking to media persons at Kuki Inn this afternoon, JAC convenor Chungshat Khongsai asserted that initiative of the Government to conduct fresh DPC for appointment of 3453 teachers under Autonomous District Councils was against the demand of the JAC as the case of the 835 primary teachers appointed in 2006 is still pending.
He said issuance of employment exchange cards in the six ADCs in connection with appointment of 3453 teachers would be banned with immediate effect and appealed to transporters to cooperate with the JAC.
transportation of media related goods would be exempted from the blockade, he added.
The 835 teachers appointed after regular DPC and still discharging duties were also issued identity cards with validity period up to 2012, Chungshat Khongsai said.
These teachers have already drawn salaries for 10/11 months.
Moreover, they were assigned election duties during the Assembly and Parliamentary elections, he added.
