Imphal, September 26 2009:
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has asked all reprobates and anti-social elements not to put up any hurdle on the path of the mass movement being undertaken in the state on the demand for resignation of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and punishment of guilty police commandos as well as officials.
For any untoward incident befalling upon any one for challenging the mass movement, the Apunba Lup should not be held accountable, it said in a press release.
Some handful of people having allegiance to Okram Ibobi have started speaking against the people's movement being spearheaded by the Apunba Lup, it noted while reminding the alleged betrayers that the movement being undertaken against the state excesses is not for any particular section of the people but for all the people of the state.
The mass movement launched by the Apunba Lup to save the nation from the extreme state excesses is being successfully carried forward with the cooperation of the public, it said.
Those handful of people dancing to the tune of O Ibobi and putting up hurdles in the mass movement are enemies of the people, the Apunba Lup asserted.
Maintaining that the mass movement would continue until its goals are achieved, the Apunba Lup cautioned all social activists and the people to remain vigilant against those reprobates.
The failure of the Government of India to take any notice of the protracted mass movement against the rampant atrocities, killings and the insecure situation clearly exposed their inability to see the people of Manipur as citizens of India.
New Delhi's callous attitude evoked a question whether all the state excesses being perpetrated in Manipur are carried out at the instigation of the Government of India.
Had the Government of India could see the people of Manipur as genuine citizens of India, it would have taken up stringent actions against O Ibobi.
Saying that its civil disobedience movement like sealing of Government offices, social boycott of Ministers and MLAs have not been withdrawn, the Apunba Lup said that it would take up strong measures against all those opposing the movement.
