CM leads in extending Chakkouba greetings

Chief Minister N Biren Singh extended his warm wishes to the people of Manipur specially to the womenfolk on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
N Biren Singh said Ningol Chakkouba is one of the grandest festivals of Manipur celebrated on the second day of Hiyangei month of Manipuri lunar calendar since time immemorial to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters and parents and daughters.
Though the festival was originally observed by the Meitei community, now the festival is celebrated by every community in the State emphasising the importance of happiness and reunion of a family in bringing peace and harmony in a society.
Speaker Y Khemchand also extended his wishes to the people, particularly the womenfolk and prayed the festival helps usher in an era of peace and prosperity.
Work Minister Th Biswajit Singh also wished the womenfolk of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
Th Biswajit said the intimate and nostalgic moments brought by this festival strengthens the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters.
Social Welfare Minister O Henry, Education Minister S Rajen Singh, Forest Minister Awangbow Newmai, Consumer Affairs Minister Th Satyabrata Singh, Deputy Speaker K Robindro Singh also extended their warm wishes for the festival of Ningol Chakkouba to the people of Manipur.
MLA H Dingo Singh wishing the people on Ningol Chakkouba suggested inclusion of mask and hand sanitizer as part of gifts on the day.
Manipur BJP president S Tikendra has also wished the people on the occasion and explained that the most important message of Ningol Chakkouba is to strengthen the institution of family.
People's Task Force for COVID-19 (PTFC-19) also wished the people of Manipur on the occasion and also reminded them that recent reports have revealed that the positivity rate in the state is pretty high and to observe SOPs strictly.
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) said Ningol Chakkouba as a festival started during the time of Ibudou Pakhangba and it has continued ever since every year.
MSF also urged the people to celebrate the festival with strict observation of guidelines provided by the Government.
Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA), International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) and Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) also extended their warm wishes to the people of Manipur for Ningol Chakkouba.
