Forest Department conducts drives at Lousi Pat, 8 net confiscated

As part of the ongoing drive by the Forest Department, the Kakching Range staff, Pallel and Panjao Beat office conducted a drive today in the areas around Lousi Pat, Thoubal district.
The drive was organised on the theme "Lamlaki Sa Uchek Singbu Kansi Amadi Ngakpi Senbisi" .
8 nets were confiscated and 3 birds were saved from miscreants by the team.
Unfortunately, 6 birds including 2 Oriental White Ibis (Urok) were found dead.
Range Forest Officer Kakching, Naorem Munal Meitei expressed anguish over the miscreants poaching the bird amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and taking advantage of the upcoming Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festival.
He stated that any individual caught poaching will be liable for 3 years in jail and Rs 25000 fine.
Meanwhile, the Thoubal Range's staff have also started a drive today against poaching, catching and killing of birds under the supervision of Thoubal Forest Division DFO Debala Leiphrakpam.
A team led by Yairipok Beat officer M Biren along with Wildlife Warden Thoubal W Ramchandra conducted a drive today at Tentha and adjoining areas.
