Imphal, February 14 2012:
The proscribed RPF and its army wing PLA have greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of the Lui-Ngai-Ni festival.
A press statement issued by the outfit's publicity secretary T Leisemba remarked that Lui-Ngai-Ni is a beautiful word taken from three different languages: Lui from Tangkhul, Ngai from Kabui and Ni from Mao-Maram.
Noting that the underlying essence of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival is 'work together and live together', the outfit pointed out the message about importance of food and diligence highlighted in Lai Haraoba festival through the characters of Tangkhul Saram Pakhangba and Nurabi.
The basic essence of Lai Haraoba festival is also peaceful coexistence between the hill and plain with mutual love and respect.
Lui-Ngai-Ni is a very important festival for Naga communities like Kabui, Tangkhul, Mao, Maram etc which is celebrated only once in a year.
The Manipuri people who were once known for their perseverance and diligence have now been afflicted by a culture of slavery.
It is now to time analyse who conspired to reduce Manipur to the present status where it is seemingly impossible for the Manipuri people to survive without aid from India, it asserted.
Given the present situation, Lui-Ngai-Ni festival assumes greater significance, it asserted.
