Electrocuted at Kongkhang

Imphal, February 14 2012:
A student was electrocuted and another injured as they came into contact with a live HT power line at Kongkhang along Imphal-Moreh highway today.
Sources informed that students and teachers who represented Chandel district in the 4th School Meet 2011 left Khuman Lampak for Moreh at about 7.30 am today.
It is reported that around ten students were travelling on the roof-top of the bus.
As they reached Kongkhang at about 11 am, the students came into contact with a live HT power line which was droopy causing injuries to two of them.
After giving first aid at Assam Rifles unit hospital at Tengnoupal, the two students were rushed to JNIMS in a passenger van.
But Md Nawaj Sharif (14) was declared brought dead at JNIMS.
Nawaj Sharif was a native of Moreh Ward No 2 and he was studying in class VII at Moreh Higher Secondary School.
He got electric shock on the head.
Raju Naorem of Moreh Ward No 9 Khunou Leikai reading in class XI at the same school also got electric shock.
He is currently undergoing treatment at JNIMS.
It is reported that the students could not have seen the droopy wire as all of them were seated facing backward.
