CM on secularism

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has said that the secular principles enshrined in the Constitution permit every citizen of the country to follow any religion of their choice.
This was stated by the Chief Minister while speaking as chief guest at the 17th Salna Jalsa (annual meeting) of the Madrassa Usmania, Thoubal held today.
O Ibobi said that any person, who has proper understanding of religious teachings, would speak only the truth and not harm anybody.
Saying that India is a secular nation, O Ibobi said that everybody has the right to follow any religion of their choice.
Stressing on the significance of upholding the commandments taught by religious books, O Ibobi said that people of Muslim community must learn Arabic and Urdu so that they can go through the high principles of Quran Sharif.
Any person, who understands the teachings written in the holy book would speak only the truth and never harm anybody.
Vice President of Azamgiri Mohadith Darul Ulum, Deoband, Hazarat Maulana Habibur Rahman Saheb graced the occasion as functional president.
Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir, Zila Parishad Member Md Abdul Latif, Babupara Maszid Imam Janab Maulana Sahid Ahmad and Moijing Gram Panchayat Pradhan Md Ali Hassan also attended the function as guests of honour.
