National Youth Day observed

Like in other parts of the country, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Imphal West under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India observed the 'National Youth Day' to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Taobungkhok Youth Welfare Club today.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Sahib Singh, Zonal Director of NYKS, Imphal encouraged youth club members to remain active, united and capable of doing voluntary service to community and stressed on the need for club members to understand the philosophy and ideals of Swami Vivekananda which will help in building high moral standard and spiritual values among the youths.
In his speech, Y Laksman Singh, District Youth Co-ordinator pointed out that considering the services rendered by Swami Vivekananda to youths of India, the Government of India in 1985 declared January 12, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day in India.
Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Thoubal also observed the 'National Youth Day' at Bengi Village in Thoubal district and distributed sport materials among the youth club members.
