Continuing its spot visit, a team of the Upendra Commission which is probing into the June 18 and July 20 incidents of the anti-ceasefire movement today visited the Chief Minister�s Secretariat building, official residences of many MLAs and the office building of the Manipur State Congress party (MSCP).
A senior CRPF officer along with the State police investigating officer briefed the Commission on how a large crowd of people had penetrated into the Chief Minister�s official bungalow and burnt down the CM�s Secretariat building.
The members of the Commission led by its Chairman, retd District & Sessions Judge Ch Upendra entered the CM�s official bungalow at 11.40 am.
But, unfortunately the CRPF officer later pushed the journalists out of gate after segregating them from the others.
Reacting against the attitude of the CRPF officer, the irate scribes decided to stop the coverage of the spot inquiry at the CM�s official bungalow.
The situation however changed after the intervention of the Commission Chairman Upendra.
During the Commission�s visit, the State police IO cited the spots where the protestors died after the CRPF firing.
Among others, the Commission team found the CM�s Secretariat building badly damaged.
The team members also found an iron locker inside the debris of the building.
The fire from the building had also partly damaged the second entrance gate.
Later, the Commission team visited the office building of the MSCP which was also burnt down during the June 18 uprising.
They then proceeded towards the damaged official quarters of former Union MoS and MSCP chief Th Chaoba Singh, and MLAs Nimaichand Luwang, M Hemanta, Onjamang Hoakip, K Govindas, L Tomba and Chandro at Babupara.
All the quarters were severely damaged.
