The JAC formed in the backdrop of controversial death of one Shangkhu Maring w/o Chandrika Shahani at the maternity ward of RIMS Hospital on February 19 has decided to suspend its agitation against the State Government and RIMS authorities.
The development came about during a joint meeting attended by the Chief Minister and representatives of the JAC and RIMS during which the JAC members were assured that utmost effort would be made by the State and RIMS authorities to avert recurrence of such 'unfortunate incident'.
According to a release issued by the JAC another meeting would be held after return of the RIMS Director and Superintendent from Delhi to resolve the deadlock regarding non-accommodation of more patients in case the ward concerned is overcrowded.
The release further informed of the JAC representatives prevailing upon State authorities on neccesity of extending medical and treatment facilities to the needy even if there is inadequacy of beds until and until alternative arrangement is made.
