AMSU Thoubal District Committee has hauled up a member of a gang which allegedly steal furniture and other goods from schools to meet the expenses of their drug habits.
The arrested gang member identified as Nawaz Khan Thoubalmayum (30) s/o Muheruddin of Thoubal Moijing Meena Bazar was paraded in front of media-persons at AMSU Head office here today.
Nawaz was reportedly pulled up from Thoubal Parking at around 3 pm after confirming his involvement the incidents of stealing furniture items and rice meant for Mid-Day Meal Scheme from some schools at Khekman and Moijing under Thoubal District during the last few moths.
Speaking at the occasion, joint secretary of AMSU Head office Iqbal Shah Khullakpam informed that is Nawaz is a peer educator in the District AIDS Control Society, Thoubal District and he had recently undergone a detoxification camp.
Other gang members have also been identified, Iqbal said while naming them as Md Faooque (27) s/o Sana, Md Jiyaul Haque s/o Ijao Rahaman, Md Nahachou alias Liyakat (35) s/o late Moulubi Ahamad Ali, all residents of Moijing Meena Bazar Makha Leikai and Md Nahamacha alias Ibo of Moirang Sangol.
Iqbal has also asked the four accomplices of Nawaz as well as one Mayang Sallon of Lilong Chingkham who allegedly supplied drugs to Nawaz to surrender to AMSU Head office within six days from today.
