CM lauds Sainik School Imphal (SSI)

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi paid a brief visit to Sainik School Imphal at around noon today.
The Chief Minister was received by GOC 57 Mountain Div Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, and Chairman LBA, Sainik School Imphal along with Wing Commander E Srinivas (Headmaster), Maj Anand Thoudam (Registrar) , staff and cadets of class XII .
The Chief Minister inspite of his hectic schedule ahead of the Prime Minister's visit did not miss to felicitate and congratulate the UPSC written qualified cadets for the NDA for entry to NDA 128 course.
Chief Minister who shared high tea with the small gathering complimented the cadets for their outstanding performance wherein 18 out of 23 cadets qualified in the UPSC written examination.
While advising the cadets to put in hard work for success in the final selection, he congratulated the cadets and gave away cash prize of Rs 50,000 on the spot as a token of appreciation.
In the course of interaction, the deficit infrastructural requirements of the school were projected by GOC, the Registrar and the cadets.
When the case of delay in the release of scholarship by the State Government was put before the Chief Minister who was not aware of such hurdle, he promised that such a delay would not take place henceforth.
He also promised the cadets a multipurpose indoor stadium, boundary wall for the entire campus, an additional dormitory and a school bus.
The Chief Minister further if the school was in need of anything specific for the staff.
At this Sainik School staff informed him about the shortage of staff quarters.
He also accepted to be the chief guest in the annual athletic meet to be held in the middle of December 2011 .
The Chief Minister who had visited the school on earlier occasion of annual day had extended his endearing support to the school in the form of renovating dormitories, staff quarters, construction of a new dormitory, black topping of approach roads, water reservoir and a dedicated power supply line which have improved the quality of life in the school.
The school in return showed its mettle bringing the most coveted Defence Minister's Trophy this year for sending the highest percentage of cadets to NDA.
DGP Y Joykumar who accompanied the Chief Minister also shared his thought and suggestions for the projections to be made to the Government.
