Kakching, June 29 2022:
Department of Environmental Science of Pole Star College Hiyanglam-Wabagai in collaboration with the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change inaugurated a two-day national seminar on 'Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability' at the college on Wednesday.
The inaugural function was attended by Dhanamanjuri University Vice Chancellor Professor N Rajmuhon as chief guest and Pole Star College principal Dr Elangbam Gopal as president while Directorate of Environment and Climate Change joint director Dr T Brajakumar and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur registrar in-charge Dr Thiyam David were present as guests of honour.
In his speech, Prof Rajmuhon remarked that although humankind has been searching for planets with water sources and signs of life, the endeavour is yet to succeed so far.
Thus, we have only one planet; Earth and nowhere to live, and so if the planet gets polluted it will be hazardous to live in.
He continued that climate change and environmental degradation lead to dangerous consequences.
As such, he appealed to all concerned to help protect the environment and prevent climate changes for the sake of future generations.
On the first day the seminar, 18 people presented their papers on varied topics.
Around 23 people will present their respective papers on the second day on Thursday.
