Letpao extends monetary aid to ailing orphan

Tribal Affairs minister Letpao Haokip on Monday extended a sum of Rs 50,000 to one Thangjam Machathoi Meitei, son of late Th Rajmo-hon Meitei of Moreh Ward no 7 Turel Wangma Ching dong Leikai, who could not get eye treatment in Guwa hati due to financial constraints.
A team of Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup Moreh led by its president Thangjam Jamuna Devi and vice president Tekcham Premapati Devi met minister Letpao at ADC Council Guest House, here on Monday and urged him to help the ail ing orphan in his treatment.
Consequently, the minister provided a sum of Rs 50,000 .
During the meeting, the minister informed that he had already directed the department concerned to begin the process for Chief Ministergi Haksel Tengbang (CMHT) health cards for people of Moreh living below poverty line from July 7 onwards so as to ensure free treatment benefits when one gets ill.
He also appealed to all eligible denizens to apply for possession of the health cards without fail and avail the benefit of the health scheme.
Along with enquiring how many households in Moreh Turel Wangma Leikai are still using firewood to prepare their meals, the minister urged them to submit relevant documents so as to avail the benefit of free gas connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
