1633 cases registered, drugs worth Rs 3212.76 cr seized

Imphal, August 31 2022: Manipur police took up 1633 cases under ND&PS Act, arrested 1960 people and seized drugs worth Rs 3,212.76 crore in international market during the five years of the government led by chief minister N Biren from March 2017 to March 19, 2022 .

According to an official report, as a part bf CM N Biren's 'War on drugs' campaign the state police arrested large number of people with drugs.

Out of 1960 arrests made in connection with 1633 cases under ND&PS Act, 1594 are 366 females.

A total of 169.619 kg heroin worth Rs.3,39,23,80,000 were seized, 42 cases registered and 52 people including nine females arrested.

During the five years, 1264.767 opium worth Rs 88,53,36,900 were also seized, 286 people (219 males and 67 females) arrested and 201 cases registered while 436.394 kg Spasmo Proxivon (SP) tablets worth Rs 88,53,36,900 were seized besides registration of 136 cases and arrest of 176 people including 154 males and 22 females.

Moreover, 48,740 Nitrosun (N-10) tablets worth Rs 43,63,94,000 were seized, 19 cases registered and 31 people including 25 males and 6 females arrested; 13,766,594 WY (Amphetamine) tablets worth Rs 6,88,32,97,000 seized, arrested 403 people (334 males and 69 females) and registered 270 cases; and 43,015 bottles of cough syrup worth Rs 4,30,15,000 were seized, arrested 99 people (89 males and 10 females) registered 67 cases.

The police also seized 522.348 kg of brown sugar worth Rs 7,83,52,20,000 in the international market and registered 161 cases and arrested 205 people, including 176 males and 29 females; 64.499 kg of pseudo-ephedrine worth "Rs 6,44,99,000, three cases registered and arrested five people (4 males and 1 female).

In addition to this, state police arrested one man and seized 30,800 Alphawin tablets worth Rs 30,80,000 in the international market; 19,987 ketamine bottles worth Rs 9,9935,000 seized, arrested four people and seized 3.516 kg of Methaqualone worth Rs 21,09,60,000 in the international market.

20 kg of Meta-Amphetamine worth Rs 10,00,00,000 in the international market were seized and arrested one man; 90,990 Tramadol tablets worth Rs 90,99,000 seized and nabbed one man; 201.314 kg of crystal methamphetamine worth Rs 12,07,88,40,000 seized, four cases registered and arrested seven people including five males and two females.

On the other hand, one man was arrested along with 842 Hextropropoxyphene capsules, two men arrested along with 360 grams of Halonitra, 295 Hetamax injection worth Rs 14,75,000 seized and four cases in connection with the seizure of 37,075 Simplex-C capsules worth Rs 39,07,500 were taken up and arrested six men; 115 litres of ammonium chloride worth Rs 11,50,000 seized and 103 Tarmazec capsules and 65 Vallium-5 capsules seized.

Moreover, 223 cases related to cultivation of poppy and ganja were taken up during the five years, out of which 29 people including one female was arrested while 13,894.4 acres of poppy plantation and 20 acres of ganja plantation were destroyed by the police.
