First Aid training programme conducted

Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch in association with Youth Red Cross Unit 1, 2 & 3 and Manipur College organised a one-day training programme on basic first aid along with a dissemination programme of Red Cross at Manipur College, Imphal on Tuesday.
IRCS Manipur State secretary RK Nimai, IRCS Imphal East district branch chairman Narendra Ningombam, Youth Red Cross Manipur coordinator Athokpam Nabachandra and Manipur College principal W Sambhunath attended the event as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, RK Nimai explained to the gathering that the training is just a basic course on first aid organised with the objective to enable the participants react immediately in any emergency situation and to stabilise the condition of any patient or injured person.
There is also a three-day certificate course in this regard and the certificate has pan India recognition, he said.
Regarding the present scenario of Covid-19 pandemic, RK Nimai noted that the state is witnessing some isolated cases on daily basis though the situation has improved significantly.
Covid is associated with long-term respiratory trouble and people need to stay aware of the facts.
Even though there are breakthrough cases, getting the vaccine is the most effective way of preventing the viral infection, he said while urging the public to get their vaccine shots.
He also said that children in the age group of 6 years and above will be eligible for receiving the vaccine soon.
