Lions Club organises one-day service activities

Senapati, August 27 2021:
Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol organised a one-day service activities on 'Village Adoption and Upliftment' in association with lions clubs of Imphal City, Chanura, Imphal Ningol Collective, Imphal Central and Imphal Excellence, and Tungjoy Village Authority Council at Tung-joy village community hall on Friday.
Tungjoy village is located some 47 km away from Senapati district headquarters.
In his address as the chief guest of the event, W Gopimohan Singh said the 'Village Adoption and Upliftment' programme organised by Lions Club was first of its kind in the district after a similar programme held in Tamil Nadu in 2018.He said that the club is a voluntary service organisation with the motto "To Serve" and its members are from different professions.
Expressing confidence that such activities will surely benefit the village, he informed that the Club members consist of medical practitioners, Fishery Department officials and other expert professionals.
M Gojendra Singh, speaking as guest of honour, stated that the programme would surely bring positive impact in the village.
He also assured that Lions Club will support and help in whatever possible way in it could in the coming days.
Experts from different fields spoke on various topics like 'cleaning of village', 'child/women rights', 'organic farming', 'drugs and alcohol abuse' and on 'development of fish culture'.
Specialist doctors including gynaecologist, ophthalmologist, medicine and others from the Club namely Dr James Elangbam, Dr James Ahanthem, Dr Kamson Anthony, Dr Sailengam and others conducted free medical camp for the villagers.
On the occasion, fish nngerlings were also distributed to the villagers.
The programme was attended by Tungjoy villagers and Lions Club members coming from Imphal, Senapati and Mao.
