LOUSAL inspects paddy fields in Wangoo

Imphal, July 14 2021: Representatives of Loumee Sinmi Apun Lup (LOUSAL) on Wednesday paid a visit to the paddy fields in and around Wangoo to assess the difficulties faced by the farmers.

A team of LOUSAL led by its president Mutum Churamani visited the paddy fields in Wangoo Sandangkhong.

Speaking on the sidelines, Churamani informed that the visit was carried out after the difficulties of Wangoo farmers were publicised in print and electronic media.

The visit revealed some of the issues including possible quality issues with the RCM-12 paddy seeds provided to the farmers by the Agriculture department at subsidised rates.

While it is appreciable of the government to provide farmers with farming equipment under its farm management policy, the president contended that the most important thing is to ensure full delivery of the benefits to the farmers.

Only when the farmers are able to produce surplus yield, will the state become self-sustainable.

As such, he urged for delivering the benefits to the farmers, while further appealing to the government and the department concerned to provide good quality seeds to the farmers at subsidised rates.
