Imphal, July 16 2021:
Maintaining that some government officials are involved in black marketing of fertilisers, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has demanded the state government to initiate appropriate action against the erring officials.
Addressing a press meet at its office premises on Friday, MSF secretary organisation Sundar Khuman informed that a team of MSF Thoubal district committee carried out an inspection visit to MS (IB) Enterprises at Thoubal Wangmataba on Friday and the shop was found selling fertiliser at the rate of Rs 500 to 700 per bag after procuring the same at Rs 350 per bag.
Upon enquiry, the team found that the shop procured the fertiliser from JR Fertiliser House, Kongba Bazar .
Consequently, MSF team went to Kongba Bazar but could not locate JR Fertiliser House.
They tried calling on the mobile number printed on the receipt of selling fertiliser and the person on the other end denied involvement in fertiliser business in a curt tone.
He, however, conveyed that the fertilisers came from the Central government.
Expressing serious concern over the black marketing of fertilisers when the farmers are facing extreme hardships due to multiple reasons, he demanded the state government to investigate the matter and take up appropriate action against officials involved in the shady trade.
