NPUI demands transfer of AR post

Imphal, June 15 2015 :
The Naga People's Union Imphal has demanded the transfer of the Assam Rifles post at Kakhing outside the state within June 17 failing which it will launch various forms of agitation.
It may be recalled that some personnel of Assam Rifles had intercepted Daniel Leivon Lamkang, an independent candidate of 10 Aihang DCC while he was coming home after electioneeing on May 28 night.
Despite identification as a candidate he was assualted and messed up the election materials.
He was stopped at two places.
Besides one rifleman allegedly threatened to shoot him down.
Though the people of the areas have been demanding disciplinary actions so far nothing is done.
The NPUI is demanding transfering away the post from Kakching within the deadline.
There will be a statewide indefinite general strike in the state, a press release threatened.
