Addressing an election meeting in connection with the Hiyanglam by-poll, MPP president N Sovakiran has asserted that the cherished dream of the masses about re-introduction of ILP system in Manipur can only be realized when the public give a mandate to his party.
He reiterated the party's pro-ILP stand to the gathering at Lamjao Tejpur Public Community Hall but raised doubt whether a Bengali centric party like the Trinamool Congress will exhibited enough commitment on legalizing the ILP system.
The MPP president further described the national parties who have their headquarters at Delhi as equally untrustworthy stating that 'Bengal' or 'Delhi' will not be inclined to support repatriation of people from those places when they became our elected representatives.
He cautioned the people not to overestimate the Trinamool Congress as strong political force by making reference to their invisibility in Assam and Tripura that had sizeable Bengali population and sought the rationality of supporting a party that was established in Bengal.
He continued that though the MPP had supported the BJP candidates at the last Parliamentary elections, his party decided in favour of parting ways on the advice of senior party sympathizers with a plan for consolidation of its base.
He rubbished the claims by Congress Party as the largest party in the country, explaining that though it might still be the richest party, after the debacle at the parliamentary polls where it won just 44 seats the biggest party claim has become absurd.
State Congress leaders talked with swagger about non-stop flow of money from the Centre whenever they are in power in Delhi as though the currency of India are printed at Sonia Gandhi's office, he stated.
Party's candidate for the by-election M Amutombi and Hiyanglam AC president of MPP E Tomcha also addressed the meeting.
