The Indo-Myanmar Exim Association, Hotel Anand Continental has submitted a memorandum to the visiting Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs seeking redressal of their grievances regarding the Indo-Myanmar bilateral border trade.
In the memo, Ch Ranjit Singh, general secretary of IMEA, highlighted that export-import consignments were delayed due to non availability of warehouse space.
The IMEA has also brought to the notice of the Parliamentary Standing Committee that there is no legal transport agency in Moreh and traders are kept in the dark regarding the progress and utilities of ICP Moreh.
Although law and order situation in Moreh is superficially better, extortion by State security personnel and underground organisations still continued, the IMEA pointed out.
Improvement of power supply, telecommunication network; setting up of permanent Highway Protection force; to stop unnecessary harassment to traders by AR at their check-posts; to arrange simplified form of exchange without changing the Customs duty rate and fees; to prevail the Govt of Manipur for illegal collection of revenue on betel nuts; to ensure free movement of imported goods along Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal-Silchar highways are the points highlighted to the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
