Market shed inaugurated

A newly constructed market shed was inaugurated today at Kakching Khunou.
Addressing the inaugural function, MLA K Ranjit said that the market shed which is around 200 feet in length, 25 feet in breadth and 20 feet in height was constructed at the cost of Rs 14.50 lakh from his local area development fund and funds which came through Kakching Khunou Municipal Council.
The market shed was constructed as the existing market shed of Kakching Khunou could no longer accommodate all the vendors.
Kakching Khunou market is the only market where farmers of the surrounding areas can sell their produces.
Kakching Khunou and surrounding areas have been producing abundant quantities of water-melon, pumpkin, cucumber, gourd etc.
But again, Kakching Khunou market is the only market where the farmers can sell their vegetable produces, Ranjit noted.
He informed the gathering about his efforts to open a branch of SBI at Sugnu.
Talking about development works, the MLA said that agencies have started black-topping four/five roads under PMGSY.
Repairing of Sugnu-Chakpikarong road has also begun after a long gap since the same road was entrusted to BRO, he added.
Sugnu Block Congress Committee president Khaidem Nimaichandra, Kakching Khunou Municipal Council Chairperson Mayanglambam Raghu Meitei and SAI Assistant Director and Dronacharya Awardee Leishangthem Ibomcha were also present at the function.
