Imphal, September 27 2021:
Ever since India attained independence, ministers from the Congress party have always competed on the level of fund embezzlement and corruption, while ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have competed on the best possible ways to improve the status quo, said former MLA Meinam Bhorot.
He made the statement during a distribution funnction of rice to booth committee members of IMC Ward no 3 under the Seva Aur Samarpan Abhiyan, organised by Thangmeiband BJP Mandal at Apunba Leikai community hall, Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai here on Monday.
Bhorot said that many ministers of, Congress were jailed on corruption charges after the BJP came to power.
He continued that BJP ministers focus on the good works done by the leaders and compete on how to best improve the status quo, such as launching beneficial schemes, many of which have never been thought of or done by other political parties.
Recounting his days as an MLA of Thangmeiband AC, Bhorot said that time has come for the constituency to elect a BJP candidate and "taste" what it is like to be part of the government.
The constituency continues to remain backward because of its representative seated in the opposition bench for over 20 years and also due to the foolish turn coating of the MLAs.
The workers of BJP need to be sincere in their efforts so as to help elect a candidate from the party, he added.
Film actor Gokul, who also attended the function, said that time has come to elect a representative who can bring up the issues of the constituency in the Assembly.
He then remarked that voters often seem to lose their senses and good judgement during elections such as forgetting the various grievances while walking to the polling booth from their residences.
Gokul then urged for electing a sincere candidate who is close to the people, while calling for publication of a calendar on the utilisation of LADF so as to maintain transparency.
Former BJP candidate Jyotin Waikhom said that the incumbent MLA was denied entry to BJP because of his previous betrayal.
BJP's principle is to maintain an attitude of self-sacrifice and making all efforts for good governance.
Lobbying will not win votes, he said, while adding that he will win the polls this time because of the love of the people and not money power.
