Imphal, April 26 2022:
Pointing out that the post of director of State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT), which is considered vital for formulation of academic curriculum, text book preparation and teacher's training, has been lying vacant since March 2021, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has appealed to the government for appointing the SCERT director without delay.
In a release, AMSU secretary general Bikramjit Thongam said that the vacancy of SCERT director has stymied the works of the Council with regard to implementation of NEP 2020 and development of education sector in the state at large.
When investigated, AMSU came across the issue of promoting a joint director wrongly.
Manipur High Court also pronounced a judgment in this regard on February 28, 2020.Moreover, there is a judgment by a court rejecting the seniority list made by the officers of the Council, he revealed, while urging the government to solve the issues of the department and appoint a director at the earliest.
Bikramjit also cautioned of launching protest for the welfare of the student community if the government ignores the matter.
