Training programme on poultry farming starts

A two-day training programme on “Skill Development for Poultry Farming in Manipur” inaugurated today at the conference hall of College of Agriculture, Imphal with Dr CA Srinivasamurthy, Director of CAU, Imphal and Dean Prof JM Laishram attending the inaugural function as chief guest and president respectively .
The training programme is being organised by Department of Animal Sciences, CAU Imphal in collaboration with North East Region Community & Resource Management Project (NERCORMP), Churachandpur .
Dr Th Ranadhir Singh, Head, Department of Animal Sciences, who is also the organiser of the training programme stated that poultry farming is a potential sector of the State as it can provide both nutritional security as well as income and employment to the farming family throughout the year.
He further stated that the training programme is being organised to teach scientific farming practices to the participants .
Prof JM Laishram stated that every effort must be made by the concerned stakeholders to produce feed ingredients to fulfill the requirements of the livestock and poultry rearers of the State .
Dr Srinivasamurthy noted that proper skill is required for successful management of poultry farm.
As such, organising such programmes will give the right direction to the participants, he added .
Jagdish Laishram, Project Technical Officer, NERCORMP, Churachandpur was also present at the occasion .
During the programme, Dr Ranadhir delivered a lecture on the topic “Housing and Sanitation Management of Poultry Farm”, Dr K Rashbihari Singh, Deputy Director, Extension Education on the topic “Feeding Management for a Profitable Poultry Production”, Dr Ksh Pabitra Singh on the topic “Breeds and Breeding Management of Poultry” and Dr M Norjit Singh, Assistant Professor on the topic “Common Diseases of Poultry and their Control and Preventive Measures” .
