Steps on to open first medical college in Mizoram

Aizawl, May 29 2014:
The process to establish the first medical college in Mizoram has begun.
In this connection various management boards and committees were formed in Aizawl.
Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purusothaman will take the initiative in this regard.
State chief minister Lal Thanhawla will be the chairman of Board of Management.
Under him various ministers and officers will work in connection with the setting up of first medical college in the state capital Aizawl.
Members of Board of Management includes Lal Thanzara, Health minister, Dr BD Chakma, minister, KS Thanga, parliamentary secretary, Mizoram University vice chancellor, chief secretary, Health secretary (member secretary), Dr NK Mohanty, adviser to Government of Mizoram etc,.
While for the Advisory Committee Lal Thanzara, Health minister was assigned to take charge as chairman.
Rinsanga, IAS (Rtd) will be the chairman of Inspection Committee.
As has been reported Mizoram will soon have medical college and the site for this building had also been finalised at the premises of Referral Hospital, outskirt of Aizawl.
Besides the Medical College, Medical Research Centre shall also be set up at the premises of State Referral Hospital at Falkawn.
Health Minister Lal Thanzara had recently said while visiting the State Referral Hospital and District TB Centre at Falkawn.
The permission to set up Medical College has been given by Central Government Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to Mizoram Government on the 3rd of this month (March 3, 2014) vide Letter No.D.O.U.12012/46/2012 - ME (P.II) dt.19.2.2014 .
The expenditure will be shared by the Central Government and Mizoram Government, 90% by Central Government and the rest by Mizoram Government.
The Central Government has in fact cleared its share of the expenditure amounting to Rs 189 crore.
