Reacting to allegations made by some student bodies, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) has made certain clarifications.
In a statement, COHSEM said the posts of Chairman and Secretary of the Council have been held by one person as per a Govt order of May 28 this year.
The Director of Education (Higher Education) is appointed as the chairman of COHSEM as per provision of the Council Act.
Regarding cancellation of recognition of 17 schools, the COHSEM statement clarified that no full fledged recognition was given to the 17 schools.
The schools were rather given provisional permission with a condition to submit No Objection Certificate obtained from the Govt within three months.
The recognition of the 17 schools were cancelled with an instruction to shift their students to the nearest recognised institutions.
However, after going through the grievances of many students, the Govt had issued an order for the extension of the provisional permission till the end of current academic session.
As such, the schools were allowed to put up the registration of their students till Oct 7.An undertaking was also taken from these schools.
The Council in its meeting on Oct 22 gave ex-post facto approval to the extension of provisional permission.
It also clarified that the Council had not purchased paper for printing textbooks published by the Council and answer sheets from other firms.
Regarding the extension of dates for enrolment and registration, COHSEM said the last date for enrolment and registration was extended four times without taking any late fine.
Further extension of the last date will result in delay of examination schedule, it clarified.
