Zomi Human Rights Foundation has urged and suggested RN Ravi, the interlocutor for Naga peace talk to establish a workable political autonomy for the tribals within the Indian Constitution so that they manage themselves effectively to be a part of the great Indian development process.
Presenting the plight of the tribal community in Manipur, and the unworkability of the present set up, ZHRF said since the present Autonomous District Council (ADC) is a tried and tested provision which has failed to look after the discontentment of the tribals up gradation of the existing ADCs which are to be managed and controlled by a separate Hill Assembly can be the best choice.
Any political solution must be non-communal, pragmatic and inclusive.
Communal approaches, must be avoided as it can invite more trouble,' it added.
