A sit in protest demanding availability of safe drinking water was staged at Heirok part-II bazaar in Heirok Assembly constituency under the aegis of Friends In Need Society (FINE Society) and Social Culture Education and Sports Development Organisation (SCEASDO) Heirok today.
Condemning the Public Health Engineering Department of state government, the protesting public said that it has been 15 years that people of Heirok constituency have not availed of safe drinking water, in spite of repeated requests to concerned authority.
Drawing the attention of the concerned department in this matter, Secretary of FINE Society Heirok Kh Romio Singh warned the government of severe agitations if the department concerned does not provide safe drinking water within one week.
Meanwhile, he also expressed strong exception to the statement given by president of Village Water and Sanitation Committee.
Refuting the saying that water provision hrough home connections have started from Litan Makhong in Heirok part-II to Laimayum Public Hydel, Romio asked where and how is the water provided at these areas.
How is water provided at the Laimayumgi area where there is no pipe fitting.
While the representatives of FINE Society and SCEASDO went to inspect the reservoir which is said to have been repaired, there was no indication of improvement, added Romeo.
