Jiribam Madrassa teachers nowhere to be found in allotted schools

A team of media persons, during an inspection conducted at different Madrassas in Jiribam, found that the Madrassa teachers have not been attending the schools regularly.
It can be recalled that around 150 part time teachers, five for each Madrassa schools, were appointed by the previous State Government in July of 2010 .
During the inspection, the media team found that, initially, the teachers attended the schools regularly but almost all of them stopped after some time.
The schools authority also revealed to the media persons that they did not have any attendance register which included the name of the appointed teachers.
Darul Ullom Madrassa, Sonapur, which has a total strength of around 70 students, had a similar situation.
Speaking to media persons, a teacher of the Madrassa, Mv Abdul Jolil, alleged that, the newly appointed teachers showed up initially but they stopped attending the school after some time.
He further alleged that the schools does not keep an attendance register for the teachers since they (the teachers) carry their respective registers with them.
He further sought the attention of the authority concerned regarding the matter.
Later, when the media persons team headed to Alia Madrassa, Kashimpur (63 students in total), they did not find any Government appointed teachers in the school.
Speaking to one of the teacher, Abdul Tamit of the Alia Madrassa over the phone, he alleged that the teachers have not turned up at the school for a very long time.
On the other hand, the headmaster of Al Madrassa Tul Bannat, Kashimpur, Abdul Kalam, held a press meet on December 7 and clarified that the allegations made by Waqf Board Chairman, Md Fajur Rahim, in a local daily claiming that one teacher Md Arshad Ali of the said Madrassa has not been attending the school for two years, is wrong and baseless.
In the meet, he further stated that no official inspection were carried out at Madrassas in Jiribam and the statement made by Waqf Chairman, without any facts and figures, is completely baseless.
He sought intervention of the authority concerned in taking up necessary action against the Chairman.
Meanwhile, Madrassa Modernisation Teachers' Jiribam under the aegis of All Manipur Madrassa Modernisation Teachers Welfare Association Manipur, Babupara conducted a press meet on November 26 .
During the press meet, it was revealed that numerous teachers from different Madrassas in Jiribam held a meeting the previous day and resolved on various issues.
A memorandum of the resolution was also submitted to CM through Jiribam MLA, Md Ashab Uddin.
According to the memo, a total of 15 teachers have been taking care of three Madrassas at Darul Ullom Madrassa, Sonapur, Alia Madrassa, Kashimpur and Al Madrassa Tul Bannat, till date.
And a total of 150 teachers of Madrassa Modernisation of the State have been working diligently for three years.
These teachers have been facing prolonged hardship, despite their hard work, for more than 38 months as the authority concerned failed to release their salaries till date.
The meeting further resolved to extend its support to any decision of All Manipur Madrassa Modernisation Teachers' Welfare Association, Manipur.
Pointing out the negligence and unethical practices of the present Chairman and CEO of Waqf Board, the meeting urged the authority concerned to take necessary action against them and appoint Jiribam local MLA, Md Ashab Uddin as the Chairman of Waqf Board, Manipur.
The inspection of the media persons was conducted after the counter statements of All Jiribam Muslim Socio Economic and Cultural Development Organisation (AJMSE and CDO), remarking that the teachers appointed by the previous Government have been punctual at the Madrassas and the allegation of Waqf Board Chairman that one of the teacher have not been attending the Madrassa, which raised considerable suspicion.
