Imphal, December 26 2017:
In one of the recurring and latest goof-ups of the India Post, a parcel that was sent from New Delhi with items worth around Rs 7000 was found containing only pieces of paper and ropes when it reached Imphal recently.
Similar issues had happened at the India Post in the past and apparently the latest goof-up shows this is not going to be the last.
A source confirmed that one Thokchom Leishemba had sent cosmetic items worth at Rs 7000 in a carton weighing around 5 Kgs from Badli Gaon, New Delhi to one Khumakcham Ojit, a resident of Kakching Turel Wangma.
On an information from the India Post that the seal of the carton was broken, it was checked and found that the contents were missing.
The source added Thokchom Leishemba had sent the carton on December 11 and it reached the Imphal Head Post Office on December 20 upon which Khumukcham Ojit was contacted and asked to come and collect it.
Ojit went to the post office on December 23 and found the carton was all empty but stuffed with pieces of papers and ropes.
On checking, besides the broken seal, it was found that the carton bore a 14-inch long cut mark and an impression that it had been re-packed.
The recipient had lodged a written complaint at the post office.
